~ The Exaltation of Jesus Christ ~
“Therefore God also
has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of
those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should
confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians
2:9-11).
“Behold, My Servant shall deal prudently; He shall be exalted
and extolled and be very high. Just as many were astonished
at you, so His visage was marred more than any
man, and His form more than the sons of men; so shall He sprinkle many
nations. Kings shall shut their mouths at Him;
for what had not been told them they shall see,
and what they had not heard they shall consider” (Isaiah 52:13-15).
The Hebrew
words translated as “exalted,” “extolled,” and “very high” all signify majesty
and power.
“Exalted” at His Ascension
~ “Therefore
being exalted to the right hand of
God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He
poured out this which you now see and hear” (Acts 2:33). “Him God has exalted to
His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and
forgiveness of sins” (Acts 5:31).
“Extolled” in His Glory
~ “You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory
and honor and power; for You created all
things, and by Your will they exist and were created” (Revelation
4:11). “Saying with a loud voice: ‘Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive
power and riches and wisdom, and strength and
honor and glory and blessing!’ And every creature which is in heaven and on the
earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them,
I heard saying: ‘Blessing and honor and glory
and power be to Him who sits on the throne,
and to the Lamb, forever and ever!’ Then the four living creatures said, ‘Amen!’ And the
twenty-four elders fell down
and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever” (Revelation
5:12-14).
“Very High” in His Kingdom
~ “And
He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: ‘KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS’” (Revelation 19:16).
the key question:
“Who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15). This is the most important
question you will ever answer. If you do not answer it, or answer it
incorrectly, you have made the biggest mistake anyone can make!
