~ 5 Aspects of a Vital Faith ~
Obedience to the Faith
~ The first vital spark of true
faith produces a dynamic salvation. “Now to Him who is able to
establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ,
according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began
but now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all
nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith—to God, alone
wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen” (Romans
16:25-27).
Living by Faith
~ After receiving salvation there
is a responsibility to live by faith. In so doing we receive the sustenance for
our new life of faith. “For I through the law died to
the law that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ; it is no
longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of
God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of
God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain” (Galatians 2:19-21).
Walking by Faith
~ We are to walk by faith in
obedience. “So we are always confident, knowing that
while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:6-7).
Praying in Faith
~ Praying in faith brings
blessings. “Is anyone among you suffering? Let him
pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let
him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing
him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the
prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if
he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be
healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Elijah
was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not
rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he
prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit” (James 5:13-18).
Fighting in Faith
~ Finally, as the Christian
fights in faith, victory is gained. “But you, O man
of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love,
patience, gentleness. Fight the good
fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life,
to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the
presence of many witnesses. I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to
all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before
Pontius Pilate, that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until
our Lord Jesus Christ's appearing, which He will manifest in His own time, He
who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who
alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor
and everlasting power. Amen” (1 Timothy 6:11-16).
