~ Jesus Christ Is the Patient,
Faithful Bridegroom & Husband ~
The Bible is about Jesus Christ
~ “Jesus
said to them, ‘How foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that
the prophets have spoken! Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and then enter His glory?’ And beginning
with Moses and all the Prophets, He explained to them what was said in all the
Scriptures concerning Himself” (Luke 24:25-27).
Throughout
the book of Hosea we find Jesus Christ as the forever patient bridegroom, the
faithful husband who is forever married to His unfaithful bride, and He is also
seen as the healer of His unfaithful
wife.
Comment
~ In the Old Testament imagery
Israel is sometimes viewed as the Lord’s wife and at other times as His
son. In the New Testament the church is
viewed as His bride waiting for the marriage supper.
We have only
touched the surface of Christ in the book of Hosea. Much more could be said about each of the
previous examples.
additional comment:
While on earth Jesus Christ often quoted
the Scriptures including:
Matthew
9:13 – Hosea 6:6
Luke
23:30 – Hosea 10:8
additional comment:
The book of Hosea is quoted in the New
Testament:
Matthew 2:15
– Hosea 11:1
Romans
9:25-26 – Hosea 2:23, 1:10
1 Corinthians
15:55 – Hosea 13:14
The Apostle
Paul told us the Scriptures present many shadows of things to come but the
reality is found in Jesus Christ (Colossians 2:17).
