The Blame Game

~ “If Only I Would Have…  If Only I Could Have…  I Should Have…” ~

Scripture  ~  Now Martha said to Jesus, ‘Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died’” (John 11:21).  Read verses 20-27.

Lessons  ~  (1) Many of us are quick to play the subtle blame game.  (How long has it been since a similar phrase came from your mouth?  Or a similar phrase entered your thoughts?)
(2) His thoughts are not our thoughts.  Then Jesus said to them plainly, ‘Lazarus is dead.  And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, that you may believe.  Nevertheless let us go to him’” (John 11:14-15).  Note that Martha was sad but The Messiah was glad!
(3) God’s timing is the best timing.
(4) God’s solution/answer is the best answer/solution.
(5) When God doesn’t answer our prayers as we desire it is not a reason to believe that God did not hear our prayer!

Scripture Application  ~  “For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.  Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.  And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:26-28).
