~ The Trinity In Heaven—Jesus
Christ ~
There are “three
witnesses” in Heaven (the “trinity”).
The
Scripture ~ “Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that
Jesus is the Son of God? This is He who
came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and
blood. And it is the Spirit who bears
witness, because the Spirit is truth. For
there are three that bear witness in
heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.” … If we receive the witness of men, the witness
of God is greater; for this is the witness of God [The Father] which He has testified of His Son [The Word]. He who believes in the Son of God has the
witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he
has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. And this is the testimony: that God has given
us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does
not have life. These things I have
written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know
that you have eternal life, and that
you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. (1 John 5:6-7, 9-13).
Jesus Christ is Eternal
~ All three members of the Triune
Godhead are fully God and possess all the attributes of God. Take for example their eternal nature. “In the beginning
was the Word [Jesus Christ], and the Word was with God, and the Word was
God. He
was in the beginning with God. All
things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was
made. In Him was life, and the life was
the light of men. And the light shines
in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it” (John 1:1-5). “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of
Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me the One [The
Messiah]
to be Ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from of old,
from
everlasting”
(Micah 5:2). “In the beginning God [a
plural being in the original language indicating the Trinity] created the
heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1-2).
The Second Witness In Heaven Is The
Word ~ The
Son of God is the agent or instrument through which creation, the maintenance
of the universe, divine revelation, and salvation occurs. Today, Jesus Christ is at the right hand of
God The Father interceding on behalf of believers. “Therefore, in all
things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in
things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For in that He Himself has suffered, being
tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted” (Hebrews
2:17-18). “Now this is the main point of
the things we are saying: we have such a High Priest, who is seated at the
right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, a Minister of the
sanctuary and of the true tabernacle which the Lord erected, and not man” (Hebrews
8:1-2). “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may
obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews
4:16).
