~ Something for Sinners,
Saints, and Sojourners ~
God Our Justifier (the
sinner’s salvation) ~ “Blessed is
he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord
does not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. When I kept silent, my bones grew old
through my
groaning all the day long. For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me;
my vitality
was turned into the drought of summer.
Selah”
(Psalm 32:1-4).
Jesus
said, “For
God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever
believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world
to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but
he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in
the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:16-18).
God Our Hiding Place (the
saint’s security) ~ “I acknowledged my
sin to You, and my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the Lord, and You forgave the
iniquity of my sin.’
Selah.
For this cause everyone
who is godly shall pray to You in a time when You may be found;
surely in a
flood of great waters they shall not come near him. You are my hiding place;
You shall
preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah” (Psalm 32:5-7).
“For I am persuaded that
neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things
present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing,
shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our
Lord” (Romans 8:38-39).
God Our Guide (the
sojourner’s safeguard) ~ “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye. Do not be
like the horse or like the mule, which have no understanding,
which must be
harnessed with bit and bridle, else they will not come near you. Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; but he who trusts in the Lord, mercy shall surround him. Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous;
and shout for
joy, all you upright in heart!” (Psalm 32:8-11).
“Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear to my cry;
do not be
silent at my tears; for I am
a stranger with You, a sojourner [pilgrim], as all my fathers were” (Psalm 39:12).
“Beloved, I beg you as
sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul,
having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against
you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God
in the day of visitation” (1 Peter 2:11-12).
