Biblical Crucifixions? ~
Christ Crucified For Me
~ “And
when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and
the other on the left. Then Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not
know what they do’” (Luke 23:33-34).
“O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should
not obey the truth, before whose eyes
Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified? This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the
Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are you so foolish?
Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? Have
you suffered so many things in vain?” (Galatians 3:1-4a).
The Flesh Crucified In Me
~ “For
if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also
shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that
the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of
sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ,
we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been
raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. For
the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He
lives, He lives to God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed
to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Therefore do not let sin
reign in your mortal body” (Romans 6:5-12a).
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.
Against such there is no law. And those
who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If
we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become
conceited, provoking one another, envying one another” (Galatians
5:22-26).
The World Crucified To Me
~ “But
God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by
whom the world has been
crucified to me, and I to the world” (Galatians
6:14).
“And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of
your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all
trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against
us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross…
you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world” (Colossians
2:13-14, 20a).
