~ The Continuing Work of God’s Grace ~
Key Scripture
~ “And God is able to make all grace abound toward
you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an
abundance for every good work” (2 Corinthians
9:8).
Comment ~ The grace of God sustains the Christian
throughout their life on earth. When we
sin, God’s grace is there also.
“If we say
that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we
confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse
us from all unrighteousness. If we
say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His Word is not in us” (1 John
1:8-10).
“What shall
we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any
longer in it? Or do you not know that as
many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His
death? Therefore we were buried with Him
through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the
glory of the Father, even so we also
should walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:1-4).
Contemplate This
~ “We are [being] transfigured
much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming
brighter and more beautiful as [the grace of] God enters our lives and we
become like Him” (2 Corinthians 3:18b, The
Message).
