Myth, 79

~ The Trinity is Not Biblical ~

The Myth  ~  Some say that since the word Trinity or the concept of the Triune God is not found in the Scriptures then it is not a reality.  Some go so far as to say it a concept that the Church has created.  This non-sensical use of language.

The Truth  ~  The concept of the One True God having three distinct persons is found in many places throughout Scripture.

Scripture  ~  The Trinity is found all through the Word of God.  For brevity we will only look at the beginning – that is the Creation.

In Genesis 1:1, the first verse of the Bible: “In the beginning God created…”  In the original language the word “God” is plural!

In Genesis 1:2 we read, “The Spirit of God” was there.

In Genesis 1:26 we read, “Let Us make man in Our own image according to Our likeness…”

In Psalm 33:4 we find, “By the Word of the Lord [Yahweh or Jehovah; God the Father] the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth…”

In John 1:1 we read, “In the beginning was the Word [Jesus Christ]

In Colossians 1:15-17 we find that the Son of God—Jesus Christ was key not only in creation but also the sustaining of the creation.

It is clear from Scripture that all three members of the Trinity were involved in creation!

Quotes  ~  The following quotes are all from Charles Haddon Spurgeon – the Prince of Preachers: “We can never understand how Father, Son, and Holy Spirit can be three and yet one.  For my part, I have long ago given up any desire to understand this great mystery, for I am perfectly satisfied that, it I could understand it, it would not be true, because God, from the very nature of things, must be incomprehensible.”  “God is our portion, Christ is our companion, the Spirit our Comforter, earth our lodge, and heaven is our home.”  “To believe and love the Trinity is to possess the key of theology.”
