~ Contrast: Without God or Fellow Citizens with God’s Saints ~
Series Comment ~ The Scripture contains many
contrasts. In this series we look
briefly at some of them. Just like in
our “Binary” series many of these contrasts represent a choice of this or that.
Scripture
1 ~ “Now
therefore, our God, we thank You and praise Your glorious name. But who am I, and who are my people, that we
should be able to offer so willingly as this?
For all things come from You, and of Your own we have given You. For we are aliens and pilgrims before You,
as were all our fathers; our days on earth are as a shadow, and without hope”
(1 Chronicles 29:13-15).
"My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle, and are
spent without hope. Oh, remember
that my life is a breath!” (Job 7:6-7a)
Scripture
2 ~ “Now,
therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens
with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on
the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the
chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows
into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a
dwelling place of God in the Spirit” (Ephesians 2:19-22).
