~ A God Of Majesty ~
This
Series ~ This
series of posts looks at some of the many attributes of God. Generally, we move in alphabetical order.
Introduction ~ The
majesty of God is seen in all of creation and His majesty has been recognized
by thinking men and women throughout human history.
Scripture ~ “He
comes from the north as golden splendor; with God is awesome majesty. As for the Almighty, we cannot find Him; He is
excellent in power, in judgment and abundant justice; He does not oppress. Therefore men fear Him; He shows no partiality
to any who are wise of heart” (Job 37:22-24).
“The
voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty”
(Psalm 29:4).
“The
Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty; the Lord is clothed, He has
girded Himself with strength. Surely the
world is established, so that it cannot be moved” (Psalm 93:1).
“I
will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and on Your
wondrous works. Men shall speak of the
might of Your awesome acts, and I will declare Your greatness. They shall utter the memory of Your great
goodness, and shall sing of Your righteousness” (Psalm 145:5-7).
“And
they were all amazed at the majesty of God” (Luke 9:43).
“God,
who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by
the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has
appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being
the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding
all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins,
sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become so much
better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name
than they” (Hebrews 1:1-4).
“For
we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power
and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty”
(2 Peter 1:16-17).
“To
God our Savior, Who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and
power, both now and forever. Amen” (Jude
25).
