~ Child of the Wrong Kingdom or Children of Promise ~
Series Comment ~ A person
can be a child of their mother, but also a child of their father. They may also have adopted parents. They may also be a child of incest or a child
of other “parents” – in this series we look at Biblical descriptions of various
“parents.”
Scripture
1 ~
“When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, ‘Assuredly,
I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel! And I say to you that many will come from
east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the sons of the kingdom will be cast
out into outer darkness. There will
be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ Then
Jesus said to the centurion, ‘Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it
be done for you.’ And his servant was
healed that same hour” (Matthew 8:10-13).
Scripture
2
~ “Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise. But, as he who was born according to the
flesh then persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, even so it is
now. Nevertheless what does the
Scripture say? ‘Cast out the bondwoman
and her son, for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the
freewoman.’ So then, brethren, we are
not children of the bondwoman but of the free” (Galatians 4:28-31).
