~ God Is
Sometimes Silent ~
This
Series
~ This series of posts looks at some of the many attributes of God. Generally, we move in alphabetical order.
Scripture ~ “O Lord, how long shall I cry for help, and
you will not hear? Or cry to you ‘Violence!’ and you will not save?
(Habakkuk 1:2).
“O Lord, God of my salvation, I cry out day and
night before you. Let my prayer come before you; incline your ear to my cry!”
(Psalm 88:1-2).
“But I, O Lord, cry to you; in the morning my prayer
comes before you. O Lord, why do you cast my soul away? Why do you hide your
face from me? (Psalm 88:13-14). (
The
most significant silence of God was toward His Son:
“My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Why are You
so far from saving Me, from the words of My groaning? O My God, I cry by
day, but You do not answer, and by night, but I find no rest (Psalm
22:1-2).
“My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? (Matthew
27:46).
Quote ~ “Silence
is God’s first language.” St. John of the Cross (1541-1591)
Comment
~
Even silence is filled with God’s presence. Meditate on this truth.
