4 My Gospel

~ A “Me-Focused” Gospel That Is Real and Effective! ~

There are four “S” words which simplify the basic Gospel of Jesus Christ.

My Soul  ~  Your Soul is a valuable possession.  Jesus taught in His parable of the rich fool, “And I will say to my soul, ‘Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.’”  But God said to him, ‘Fool!  This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’” (Luke 12:19-20).  But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul” (Hebrews 10:39).

My Sins   ~  Awareness of your Sins are a heavy burden.  For there is no difference [in any of us]; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:22a-23).  And you, being dead in your trespasses” (Colossians 2:13a).

My Savior  ~  Accepting the Messiah, Jesus Christ, as your Savior provides a Great Deliverance.  And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior” (Luke 1:47).  “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.  Trust in the Lord forever, for in Yah , the Lord, is everlasting strength” (Isaiah 26:3-4).

My Salvation  ~   Your Salvation brings a joyful confession.  Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid;for Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation.’  Therefore with joy I will draw water from the wells of salvation” (Isaiah 12:2-3).

summary:   When you are awakened to own the value of the first—Your Soul, you feel the burden of the second—Your Sins, you as a sinner are led to the third—Your Savior, and you soon intimately know and rejoice in the fourth—Your Salvation.

1 + 1 = 3

~ Also, Do You Understand that 2 + 1 = 4? ~

Key Passage  ~  Jesus said, I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:19-20).

Context  ~  The surrounding text makes it clear that this refers to dealing with a sinning fellow believer.  However, the principle is much broader than the specific situation.  God wants His children to be in unity and to be operating according to truth as we find it in Scripture.

Identity in Christ, 51

~ I Am Reconciled To God ~

Introduction  ~  When Christians understand the various characteristics and aspects of the birthright which came with their second birth, they comprehend their identity in Christ.  Once Christians understand their identity, their destiny is also clear!  This series of “Abundant Life Now” posts will look at one of those facets each week.

This Week’s Verse  ~  “Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:18-19).

~~~ EXPLANATORY “IDENTITY IN CHRIST” NOTES ~~~
(1)  Each Monday ALN posts an example of Scripture’s description of aspects/characteristics of Christians—those who have personally trusted in Jesus Christ, The Messiah, as their personal Savior.
(2)  This series is not intended to be an exhaustive list.
(3)  God the Father described Himself to Moses as the great “I AM” (Exodus 3:14).  God the Son also said “I AM” (John 8:58).
(4)  Jesus Christ is the Son of God and several times in the Gospel of John He refers to Himself as “I am.  I am the Bread of Life” (6:35-51), “I am the Light of the World” (8:12, 9:5), “I am the Door” (10:7-9), “I am the Good Shepherd” (10:11-14), “I am the Son of God” (10:36), “I am the Resurrection and the Life” (11:25), “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life” (14:6), “I am in the Father, and the Father in Me … Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me” (John 14:10-11), and “I am the True Vine” (15:1-5).
(5)  Individual Christians are also sons and daughters of God.  This series will show some of the various “I am” aspects of a Christian.
