Jesus Christ Was Born As A Child ~
Passages ~ “For unto us a Child is born, unto
us a Son is given, and the government shall be upon His shoulder; and His name
shall be called
Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of
Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end,
upon the throne of David and upon His kingdom, to order it, and to establish it
with judgment and
with justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform
this.” (Isaiah
9:6-7).
“And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out
from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This census first took place while Quirinius
was governing Syria. So all went to be
registered, everyone to his own city. Joseph
also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city
of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of
David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. So it was, that while they were there, the
days were completed for her to be delivered.
And she brought forth her
firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger,
because there was no room for them in the inn” (Luke 2:1-7).
Significance ~ Jesus
Christ came to earth as a human baby. As
such he was humanly dependent upon His parents.
He grew in stature and maturity. By
age 12 He was already concerned about carrying out His Father’s will. “And He said to them, ‘Why did you seek Me? Did you
not know that I must be about My Father’s business?’ But they did not understand the statement
which He spoke to them” (Luke 2:49-50).
Comment ~ Having experienced humanity He understands what we experience.
the key question:
“Who do you say that I am?”
(Matthew 16:15). This is the most
important question you will ever answer. If you do not answer it, or answer it
incorrectly, you have made the biggest mistake anyone can make!
