~ Christian Are You Fulfilling Your
Calling? ~
There are
three key aspects of the Christian calling—for all Christians!
A High Calling
~ The
Apostle Paul put it this way, “Not that I have already obtained it or have
already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which
also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Brethren, I do not regard myself as
having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and
reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in
Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:12-14).
A Heavenly Calling
~ “Therefore,
holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly
calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ
Jesus, who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was faithful in
all His house. For this One has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses,
inasmuch as He who built the house has more honor than the house. For every
house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God. And Moses indeed
was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things
which would be spoken afterward, but Christ as a Son over His own house, whose
house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm
to the end” (Hebrews 3:1-6).
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing
in the heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3).
A Holy Calling
~ “Therefore
do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but
share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, who has saved us and called us with a
holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose
and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, but has now
been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished
death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, to which I
was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. For this
reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know
whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have
committed to Him until that Day” (2 Timothy 1:8-12).
“Therefore
gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the
grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as
obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your
ignorance; but as He who called you is
holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy’” (1 Peter 1:13-16).
Have you
heard God’s call? If so, are you aware of these three aspects of your call?
