~ What The Bible Says About
Lawlessness ~
God’s Definition of Lawlessness – In its nature it is not in subjection to God
and His Word. “Whoever
commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness” (1
John 3:4).
The
Reality of Lawlessness ~ “For what the law could not do in that it was weak through
the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on
account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement
of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but
according to the Spirit. For those who
live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but
those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be
spiritually minded is life and peace.
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to
the law of God, nor indeed can be.
So then, those who are in the flesh cannot
please God” (Romans 8:3-8).
RELIGION Does Not Help
~ “Then
Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to His disciples, saying: ‘The scribes and
the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. Therefore
whatever they tell you to observe, that
observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do
not do. For they bind heavy burdens,
hard to bear, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not
move them with one of their fingers. But
all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge
the borders of their garments. They love
the best places at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues, greetings in the marketplaces, and to be
called by men, “Rabbi, Rabbi.” But you,
do not be called “Rabbi;” for One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brethren’” (Matthew
23:1-8). “But know this, that in the last days
perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of
money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful,
unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal,
despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather
than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” (2 Timothy
3:1-5).
Lawlessness Is Hated By God
~ “But
to the Son God-The Father says: ‘Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; a
scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated
lawlessness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness
more than Your companions’” (Hebrews 1:8-9).
The Only Solution Is a
RELATIONSHIP With Jesus Christ ~ “For the grace of God that brings salvation
has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly
lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,
looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior
Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every
lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good
works” (Titus 2:11-14).
The Bottom Line
~ Are you sure of your standing
before God? If not, you can be.
