~ Jesus Christ Rebukes Hypocrisy ~
General Comment
~ When Jesus saw there was always an appropriate reaction and in each case
we can learn from the event.
Today’s Scripture
~ “So
when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, ‘He who is without sin among you, let him throw
a stone at her first.’ And again He
stooped down and wrote on the ground.
Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with
the oldest even to the last. And Jesus
was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus
had raised Himself up and saw no one
but the woman, He said to her, ‘Woman,
where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?’ She said, ‘No one, Lord.’ And Jesus said to her, ‘Neither do I condemn
you; go and sin no more’” (John
8:7-11).
Application ~ Jesus
Christ is the Creator. The sins of Adam
and Eve broke fellowship with God. Jesus
Christ is also the Redeemer, and the only Savior. He is the God of second chances—He wants to restore
you to fellowship with Himself and the other members of the Trinity. “Our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ” (1
John 1:3b). “May the grace of
the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all” (2 Corinthians 13:14).
