~ Jesus Christ Is Our
Coming King and the Great Judge ~
The Bible is about Jesus Christ
~ “Jesus
said to them, ‘How foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that
the prophets have spoken! Did not the
Christ have to suffer these things
and then enter His glory?’ And beginning
with Moses and all the Prophets, He explained to them what was said in all the
Scriptures concerning Himself” (Luke 24:25-27).
Jesus Christ in the Letters to the
Thessalonians ~
In both the epistles to the Thessalonian church we see Jesus Christ as
our coming King—returning soon.
Jesus Christ in Paul’s Second Epistle
to the Thessalonians ~
Jesus Christ is seen not only as our Coming King but also as the Great
Judge, the Faithful One, and the source of our joy.
Compare the Following Passages
~ “His delight is in the fear of the Lord, and He shall not judge by
the sight of His eyes, nor decide by the hearing of His ears; but with righteousness He
shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the
earth; He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth,
and with the breath of His lips He shall slay
the wicked. Righteousness shall be the belt of His loins,
and
faithfulness the belt of His waist” (Isaiah 11:3-5). “For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who
now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed,
whom the Lord will consume with the
breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming” (2
Thessalonians 2:7-8).
Comment
~ We have only touched the
surface of Christ in the epistle of 2 Thessalonians. The Apostle Paul told us the Scriptures
present many shadows of things to come but the reality is found in Jesus Christ
(Colossians 2:17).
