~ The Importance of Hearing ~
God’s First Commandment
~ “Then one of the scribes came,
and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them
well, asked Him, ‘Which is the first
commandment of all?’ Jesus answered
him, ‘The first of all the commandments
is: “Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all
your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your
strength.” This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: “You shall
love your neighbor as yourself.” There
is no other commandment greater than these’” (Mark 12:28-31).
God’s Last Commandment
~ “While he was still speaking,
behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the
cloud, saying, ‘This is My beloved Son,
in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!’ And when the disciples heard it, they fell on
their faces and were greatly afraid. But
Jesus came and touched them and said, ‘Arise, and do not be afraid.’ When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw
no one but Jesus only” (Matthew 17:5-8).
Who Are To Hear?
~ “Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth! For the Lord has spoken: ‘I have nourished
and brought up children, and they have rebelled against Me; the ox knows its
owner and the donkey its master's crib; but Israel does not know, My people do
not consider.’” (Isaiah 1:2-3).
