Spiritual War: Ultimate Victory ~
War
Begins ~ Satan won the first skirmish in the great
spiritual war. “So
the Lord God said to the serpent:
‘Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all cattle, and more than
every beast of the field; on your belly you shall go, and you shall eat dust
all the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman,
and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head [fatal], and
you shall bruise His heel [not fatal]’” (Genesis
3:14-15).
The
Strategy ~ Believers continue to fight the spiritual
war. “But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness,
godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.
Fight the good fight of faith,
lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the
good confession in the presence of many witnesses. I urge you in the sight of God who gives life
to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before
Pontius Pilate, that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until
our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing, which He will manifest in His own time, He
who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who
alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen
or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen” (1 Timothy 6:11-16).
Some
Skirmishes Are Won
~ Near the end of his life the
Apostle Paul could say, “I have fought
the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of
righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that
Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing” (2 Timothy
4:7-8).
A Key To Winning Skirmishes ~ “Do
not love the world or the things in the world.
If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all
that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the
pride of life—is not of the Father but is
of the world. And the world is
passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides
forever” (1 John 2:15-17).
War
Ends With Victory
~ Jesus Christ—The Lamb of
God—wins the war! “Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the
key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of
old, who is the Devil and Satan, and
bound him for a thousand years; and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and
shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations
no more till the thousand years were finished.
But after these things he must be released for a little while” (Revelation
20:1-3). “The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the
lake of fire and brimstone where the
beast and the false prophet are. And
they will be tormented day and night forever and ever” (Revelation 20:10).
“And I [John] heard a loud voice from heaven
saying, ‘Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their
God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more
death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There
shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.’ Then He who sat on the throne said, ‘Behold,
I make all things new.’ And He said to
me. ‘Write, for these words are true and faithful’” (Revelation
21:3-5).
