Is Jesus The Reason for The Season? ~
Introduction
~ There
is a common saying that “Jesus is the reason for the season!”
Question
~ Is that a true and accurate statement?
Answer
~ No! At least not the way that I read all of Scripture
and the Christmas account.
Explanation ~ If Jesus is not the reason for the season,
then what is the reason for the season?
Humanity and our sin is the reason for the season!
“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given;
and the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).
“For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is
Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:11).
Conclusion ~ The reason
for the season is not His birth but that we can have rebirth! Christ came to earth, lived a perfect sinless
life, and in His death He stood before God as if He were us in order that we
can stand before God as if we are Christ.
Critical Point ~ Have
you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior?
