Are You Fulfilling God’s Expectations of You? ~
God expects every one of His saints to be actively involved
in good works.
Created
for Good Works
~ “For
we are His workmanship, created in Christ
Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in
them”
(Ephesians 2:10). God had good works waiting for us even
before we came into His family!
Enabled
to Do Good Works
~ “All
Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for
reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be
complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2
Timothy 3:16-17). God has provided the training manual (the Bible) and the
trainer (His Holy Spirit) to fully equip you!
Responsible
for Good Works
~ “This
is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be
careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to
men” (Titus 3:8). Good works are also for our benefit!
Prepared
for All Good Works
~ “But
in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of
wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone
cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and
useful for the Master, prepared for every
good work” (2 Timothy 2:20-21). God expects us to
be prepared and ready for every opportunity!
Fanatical
About Good Works ~ “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to
all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should
live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the
blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people,
zealous for good works” (Titus 2:11-14). Are you as much of a
fan of good works as you are of your favorite sports team or other favorite
item?
Rich
in Good Works
~ “Command
those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in
uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to
enjoy. Let them do good, that they be
rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for
themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on
eternal life” (1 Timothy 6:17-19). Good works are the
true riches for eternity!
A
Lifestyle of Good Works
~ “In all things showing yourself to be a
pattern of good works; in doctrine showing
integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, sound speech that cannot be condemned,
that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you”
(Titus 2:7-8). Doing good becomes the normal lifestyle of a
mature Christian!
Overflowing
With Good Works
~ “At
Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which is translated Dorcas.
This woman was full of good works and
charitable deeds which she did” (Acts 9:36). In the early church we are
given an example of good works being the norm for the follower of Jesus
Christ.
