~ In Jesus We Have Peace: Luke’s Gospel ~
Introduction ~ In
this series we look at a few of the verses which state what we have when we are
“in Christ.” Consider our series theme
verse:
“God,
who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even
when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by
grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together
in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He
might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ
Jesus. For by grace you have been
saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of
works, lest anyone should boast. For we
are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God
prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:4-10).
Scripture
~ “The angel said to them, ‘Do
not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be
to all people. For there is born to you
this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will
find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.’ And suddenly there was with the angel a
multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: ‘Glory to God in the
highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men’!”” (Luke 2:10-14).
“Then He said
to the woman, ‘Your faith has saved you. Go in peace’” (Luke 7:50).
“And He said
to her, ‘Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace’” (Luke 8:48).
Additional
Scripture ~ “You
will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You [God], because
he trusts in You” (Isaiah 26:3).
Comment
~ Do you know God – the source of
peace that passes any human understanding? (See Philippians 4:6-7)
