Love Not the World, 2

 

~  Because The World Hates You ~

 

Introduction to This Series ~ The word world does not refer to the physical world and all its creative beauty. Rather, it refers to the world system, its typical beliefs and often anti-God actions.

 

Scripture ~ Jesus said, “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.  If you were of the world, the world would love its own.  Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.  Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.'’  If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you.  If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.  But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me” (John 15:18-21). 

 

Christ’s Prayer to The Father for You ~ “I gave them your Word; the godless world hated them because of it, because they didn’t join the world’s ways, just as I didn’t join the world’s ways.  I’m not asking that you take them out of the world but that you guard them from the Evil One.  They are no more defined by the world than I am defined by the world.  Make them holy — consecrated — with the truth; Your word is consecrating truth” (John 17:14-17, The Message).

 

Comment ~ No Christian should be surprised when they encounter resistance or even persecution because of their beliefs.
