Spiritual War, 19of20

~ Spiritual War: Ultimate Victory ~

War Begins  ~  Satan won the first skirmish in the great spiritual war.  “So the Lord God said to the serpent: ‘Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all cattle, and more than every beast of the field; on your belly you shall go, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life.  And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head [fatal], and you shall bruise His heel [not fatal]’” (Genesis 3:14-15).

The Strategy  ~  Believers continue to fight the spiritual war.  “But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.  Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.  I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing, which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power.  Amen” (1 Timothy 6:11-16).

Some Skirmishes Are Won  ~  Near the end of his life the Apostle Paul could say, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing” (2 Timothy 4:7-8).

A Key To Winning Skirmishes  ~  “Do not love the world or the things in the world.  If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.  And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever” (1 John 2:15-17).

War Ends With Victory  ~  Jesus Christ—The Lamb of God—wins the war!  “Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.  He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished.  But after these things he must be released for a little while” (Revelation 20:1-3).  The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are.  And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever” (Revelation 20:10).

“And I [John] heard a loud voice from heaven saying, ‘Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people.  God Himself will be with them and be their God.  And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying.  There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.’  Then He who sat on the throne said, ‘Behold, I make all things new.’  And He said to me. ‘Write, for these words are true and faithful’” (Revelation 21:3-5).

Question – Jesus, 1

~  Regarding Ability ~

Introduction  ~  This series is about questions involving Jesus.  Some were asked by individuals involved with Jesus Christ while He walked on earth.  Others are questions that Jesus Christ asked others.  We will look at questions on about 130 topics (some may split into two or more posts).  Even so, it is far from an exhaustive list.

Scripture  ~  “Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Him, saying, ‘Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask.’  And He said to them, ‘What do you want Me to do for you?’  They said to Him, ‘Grant us that we may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on Your left, in Your glory.’  But Jesus said to them, ‘You do not know what you ask.  Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?  They said to Him, ‘We are able’ (Mark 10:35-39).

Comments  ~  1. Note what a selfish question it is—based upon pride (all sin has an element of pride).  2. Note, their unwarranted confidence!  3. Scripture teaches there will be rewards in heaven—but what presumption to expect the honored places on either side of our Master.  4. A parallel passage is located in Matthew 20:20-28.

Jesus Came To…, 4

~ Jesus Christ Came To Save ~

Passages  ~  “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” (John 3:17).

“For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10).

Significance  ~  This was the whole purpose of Jesus Christ coming to earth as a human.  He came to provide a way of escape from the punishment by God the Father for our sins.  Jesus paid the death penalty of your sins when He died in your behalf.

Comment  ~  Salvation is offered to you as a free gift.  But like any gift it must be accepted.  Have you confessed your sins, accepted His payment for your sins, and then turned from your sins.  Are you growing in the grace and knowledge of your Lord Jesus Christ?

“Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  To Him be the glory both now and forever.  Amen” (2 Peter 3:18).

the key question:  “Who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15).  This is the most important question you will ever answer.  If you do not answer it, or answer it incorrectly, you have made the biggest mistake anyone can make!
