Binary, 20

~ Binary Sacrifice: Repeated or One-Time ~

Series Comment  ~  When it comes to spiritual paths it is strictly a binary choice.

(1)   It is a choice between the True or False.  “Jesus said to him [Thomas], ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me’” (John 14:6).  [See Post #1 in this series.]

(2)   It is a choice between Do or Done.  Jesus said, “It [the work of salvation] is finished!” (John 19:30).  Your Doing can add nothing to what Christ has Done for you.  [See Post #2 in this series.]

(3)   It is your choice between Religion or Relationship.  Religions are geared toward self-effort whereas Christianity is an intimacy with the only One who can save.  Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock.  If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20).  [See Post #3 in this series.]

Scripture  ~  “And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.  But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool.  For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified” (Hebrews 10:11-14).

Comment  ~  This passage fits so perfectly with the “Series Comment” above!

God Attribute, 18

~ Desires ~

This Series  ~  This series of posts looks at some of the many attributes of God.  Generally, we move in alphabetical order.

Introduction  ~  Throughout the Word of God the desires of God are made clear.  God has desires for all of mankind, for His children, and for each individual.

Scripture  ~  “Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man’s devising.  Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained.  He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead” (Acts 17:29-31).

“See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.  Therefore, do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.  And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God” (Ephesians 5:15-21).

Comment  ~  The author of this blog has an eBook available entitled “GOD’S DESIRE: How To Please God” (https://books2read.com/GodsDesire).  It is widely available wherever eBooks are sold.  An earlier paperback book with much of the same material is also available from Amazon: “THY WILL BE DONE ON EARTH: Understanding God’s Will for You” (https://www.amazon.com/Thy-Will-Be-Done-Earth/dp/1606474308).

Why Trust God? 14

~ God Does Miracles for His People (Exodus 1of12) ~

Introduction  ~  “Abundant Life Now” previously provided a list of Biblical of examples of fearing / reverencing God (217 posts).  In this current series we look at Biblical accounts that demonstrate that we can fully trust God.  Initially we posted seven general reasons for trusting God.  We are currently looking at passages from all 66 books of Scripture which demonstrate a reason for trusting our Creator.

Scripture  ~  “Then the Lord spoke to Moses, ‘Say to Aaron, “Take your rod and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their streams, over their rivers, over their ponds, and over all their pools of water, that they may become blood.  And there shall be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in buckets of wood and pitchers of stone.”’  And Moses and Aaron did so, just as the Lord commanded.  So he lifted up the rod and struck the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh and in the sight of his servants.  And all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood” (Exodus 7:19-20)
