Why Trust God? 113of113

~ God Gives Us Sight Of Our Future ~

Introduction ~ “Abundant Life Now” previously provided a list of Biblical of examples of fearing / reverencing God (217 posts). In this current series we look at Biblical accounts that demonstrate that we can fully trust God. Initially we posted seven general reasons for trusting God. We are currently looking at passages from all 66 books of Scripture which demonstrate a reason for trusting our Creator.

Scripture ~ “I, John, both your brother and companion in the tribulation and kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was on the island that is called Patmos for the word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.  I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet, saying, ‘I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last,’ and, ‘What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia: to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamos, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea’” (Revelation 1:9-11).

Comment ~ We have looked at over one hundred reasons to trust God. These reasons have been found in all sixty-six books of the Bible. There are many more reasons to trust God beyond the examples we have provided.

Methods of Praise, 10

~ Praise By Dancing ~

Introduction ~ The Bible provides a number of examples of how God’s people are able to show praise to Him.

Scripture ~ “Now it was told King David, saying, ‘The Lord has blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God.’ So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David with gladness. And so it was, when those bearing the ark of the Lord had gone six paces, that he sacrificed oxen and fatted sheep. Then David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was wearing a linen ephod. So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting and with the sound of the trumpet” (2 Samuel 6:12-15).

Jesus Facts, 2

 ~ Jesus Is Creator ~

Scripture ~ “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence” (Colossians 1:15-18).

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made” (John 1:1-3).

Promise of God, 49

~ God Chose You to Bear Fruit ~

This Series ~ God has made many promises to His people. This series of posts looks at some (100) of the many attributes of God.  It is not an exhaustive list.

Key Factor ~ God not only makes promises to His people but He also keeps all of His promises.

Scripture ~ Jesus said, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5).

He also said, “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you” (John 15:16).

Benefits For God’s People, 1

~ God Fights For You ~

Series Information ~ The Bible is full of promises to those who have trusted in God as their only true source of salvation. Most of the 100+ posts in this series are exclusively for God’s family. These postings are far from an exhaustive list!  It is important to realize you are not a member of God’s family unless you have made a specific intentional decision to trust Jesus Christ as your savior. If you have not done that or are not sure if you have then I suggest you settle it today.  Here is a helpful website for you: https://peacewithgod.net/how-to-find-god/

Series Theme Scripture ~ For as many as are the promises of God, they all find their Yes [answer] in Him [Christ].  For this reason we also utter the Amen (so be it) to God through Him [in His Person and by His agency] to the glory of God” (2 Corinthians1:20 amp).

This Post Scripture ~ “And Moses said to the people, ‘Do not be afraid.  Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today.  For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.  The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace’” (Exodus 14:13-14).

Comment ~ As has often been said, “God and you are a majority.”  With God you are on the winning side.

Disciplined Life, 20of20

~ Satisfied With Status ~

Series Note ~ A constant reality is that it takes effort to develop and maintain good habits. Unfortunately; we effortlessly develop bad habits.

To combat this fact of mankind’s fallen nature requires consistent effort. This is why personal discipline is vitally important. Simply stated the bottom-line is that to fulfill our responsibility to become increasingly Christ-like we must exercise continual discipline.

Scripture ~ “For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body — whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free — and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. For in fact the body is not one member but many.

“If the foot should say, ‘Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body,’ is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear should say, ‘Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body,’ is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling? But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. And if they were all one member, where would the body be?

“But now indeed there are many members, yet one body. And the eye cannot say to the hand, ‘I have no need of you’; nor again the head to the feet, ‘I have no need of you.’ No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty, but our presentable parts have no need. But God composed the body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it, that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

“Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way” (1 Corinthians 12:12-31).

Comments ~ 1) In the next chapter (1 Corinthians 13) are listed the “more excellent way” which consists of “faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love” (1 Corinthians 13:13b).

2) State of Satisfaction also includes marriage or singleness. The Apostle Paul could say, “I wish that all men were even as I myself. But each one has his own gift from God, one in this manner and another in that” (1 Corinthians 7:7). Paul felt in his ministry needs that he would be less encumbered in his itinerant missionary style if he remained single.

God Attribute, 150

~ Near To Us ~

This Series ~ This series of posts looks at some of the many attributes of God.  Generally, we move in alphabetical order.

Scripture ~ “The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them. The Lord preserves all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy” (Psalm 145:18-20).

Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever — the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you” (John 14:15-18).

“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8a).

“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).

Comment ~ If you aren’t as near to God as you once were, guess who moved?

CHRIST’S DISCIPLE: How To Finish Strong

What If You Could Gain Control Over Your Repetitive Sin?

☆☆☆☆☆ “I found this book to be an easy to follow and easy to understand guide to discipleship ... I loved the visual of the pyramid and building blocks to growth. It helped both to understand how each area of growth grows upon one another and helped to keep grounded in process. I also loved how everything taught was scripture based. Good book to explain process of spiritual growth.” ~D. Chatley (Amazon review)

A timely book for those who long for faster, more consistent spiritual growth.

In today’s Christian communities many are complacent in their ultimate destination and they neglect the importance of the journey.  In so doing, they are missing out on many of the here and now benefits of their adoption into the family of God.  The normal (not average) Christian is growing more like Jesus Christ as they continue their life on earth.  If you long to be a disciple who brings a smile to God’s face, this book is for you.
