Christ in John 1, 2of3

~ Great Truths About Jesus Christ From John 1—Part B ~

The first chapter of the Apostle John’s Gospel is full of information about who Jesus Christ is.  Consider the following:

Jesus Christ Is The Source of Grace  ~  And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).  “For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” (John 1:17).

Jesus Christ Is The Source of Truth  ~  And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).  “For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” (John 1:17).

Jesus Christ Is The Messiah  ~  “For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” (John 1:17).  One of the two who heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.  He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, ‘We have found the Messiah’ (which is translated, the Christ)” (John 1:40-41).  Then the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.  For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ [The Messiah] the Lord.  And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger’” (Luke 2:10-12).

Jesus Christ Is The Lamb Of God  ~  The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, ‘Behold!  The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!’” (John 1:29).  Again, the next day, John stood with two of his disciples.  And looking at Jesus as He walked, he said, ‘Behold the Lamb of God!’ (John 1:35-36).

Jesus Christ Is The Master Teacher  ~  The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.  Then Jesus turned, and seeing them following, said to them, ‘What do you seek?’   They said to Him, ‘Rabbi’ (which is to say, when translated, Teacher), ‘where are You staying?’” (John 1:37-38).

Jesus Christ Is The Ultimate Leader  ~  Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.  Philip found Nathanael and said to him, ‘We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.’  And Nathanael said to him, ‘Can anything good come out of Nazareth?’   Philip said to him, ‘Come and see’” (John 1: 44-46).

Jesus Christ Is The Son Of Man  ~  “Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Because I said to you, “I saw you under the fig tree,” do you believe?  You will see greater things than these.’  And He said to him, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafter you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man’” (John 1:50-51).

the key question: “Who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15).  This is the most important question you will ever answer.  If you do not answer it, or answer it incorrectly, you have made the biggest mistake anyone can make!
