~ Are You Walking Worthy? ~
As a Christian we are to walk in such a way that is worthy of our
salvation and spiritual inheritance. “You are witnesses, and God also, how devoutly and justly and
blamelessly we behaved ourselves among you who believe; as you know how we
exhorted, and comforted, and charged every
one of you, as a father does his own children, that you would walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom
and glory” (1 Thessalonians 2:10-12).
Consider seven ways to walk in a way which is worthy of God who called you into His salvation and gave you a spiritual inheritance.
Walk
by faith – “For we walk by faith,
not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7).
Walk
according to the Word
– “Give me understanding, and I shall keep Your law;
indeed, I shall observe it with my whole heart. Make me walk
in the path of Your commandments, for I delight in it” (Psalm 119:34-35).
Walk
in the Spirit – “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness,
self-control. Against such there is no
law. And those who are Christ's have
crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit” (Galatians 5:22-25).
If you do the first three well you
will do the following three!
Walk
as those in the light
– “For you were once darkness, but now you are light
in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for
the fruit of the Spirit is in all
goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the
Lord” (Ephesians 5:8-10).
Walk
the narrow road – “My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent. If they say, ‘Come with us, let us lie in wait
to shed blood; let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause; let us
swallow them alive like Sheol, and
whole, like those who go down to the Pit; we shall find all kinds of precious
possessions, we shall fill our houses with spoil; cast in your lot among us,
let us all have one purse’ — My son, do not walk in the way with them, keep
your foot from their path; for their feet run to evil, and they make haste to
shed blood. Surely, in vain the net is
spread in the sight of any bird; but they lie in wait for their own blood, they
lurk secretly for their own lives. So
are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain; it takes away the life of its
owners” (Proverbs 1:10-19).
Walk
in integrity – “He who walks with integrity walks securely, but he who
perverts his ways will become known” (Proverbs 10:9).
If you do the first six well the
result is you will…
Walk
like Christ Walked
– “Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His
commandments. He who says, ‘I know Him,’
and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of
God is perfected in him. By this we know
that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He
walked” (1 John 2:3-6).
Are you walking worthy of your
position in Christ?
