~ Universal Topics Of
Prayer ~
“Teach
us what we should say to Him” (Job 37:19a). In
this five part series we have looked at Techniques of prayer, Types of prayer,
Essentials of prayer, and Effective prayer.
In this final post consider Topics of prayer.
Pray For All True Believers
~ “Praying
always with all prayer and supplication
in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and
supplication for all the saints—and
for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to
make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains;
that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak” (Ephesians 6:18-20). “We give
thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you” (Colossians 1:3). “Epaphras,
who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect
and complete in all the will of God” (Colossians 4:12).
Pray For All Men ~ “Therefore I exhort
first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks
be made for all men… For this is
good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be
saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:1-4).
Pray for All Government
Authorities ~ “Therefore I exhort
first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks
be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may
lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight
of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge
of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:1-4).
Pray About All Things
~ “Then
He [Jesus] spoke a parable to them, that men
always ought to pray and not lose heart” (Luke 18:1). “Be anxious for nothing,
but in everything by prayer and
supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts
and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7). “Rejoice always, pray
without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in
Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).
