~ The Tree of Life ~
There are a
number of fascinating parallels between the first three chapters of the Bible
(Genesis 1-3) and the last three chapters of the Bible (Revelation 20-22). In between we find 1,183 chapters which
record mankind’s struggles as well as instructions for the struggle. In this series each post looks at one of the
parallels—it is not an exhaustive
coverage of all the parallels.
The Beginning
~ “And
out of the ground the Lord God
made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The
tree of life was also in the midst of
the garden, and the tree of the knowledge
of good and evil” (Genesis 2:9).
The Middle
~ “He
[the Godly person] shall be like a tree
planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season,
whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper” (Psalm
1:3). “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord.
For he shall be like a tree
planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will
not fear when heat comes; but its
leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will
cease from yielding fruit” (Jeremiah 17:7-8).
The End
~ “In
the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve
fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were
for the healing of the nations” (Revelation 22:2). “Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city”
(Revelation 22:14).
