~ Divine Love Expressed 7 Ways ~
Love Manifested (the
gift of Christ) ~ “Beloved, let us
love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and
knows God. He who does not love does not
know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested
toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we
might live through Him. In this is
love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the
propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if
God so loved us, we also ought to love one another” (1
John 4:7-11).
Love Demonstrated (at
the Cross) ~ “For when we were
still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one
die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God
demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners,
Christ died for us. Much more then,
having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through
Him. For if when we were enemies we were
reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been
reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus
Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation” (Romans
5:6-11).
Love Bestowed (in
our child relationship) ~ “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed
on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because
it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has
not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed,
we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him
purifies himself, just as He is pure” (1 John 3:1-3).
Love Believed (by
the sinner) ~ “Whoever confesses
that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. And we
have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he
who abides in love abides in God, and God in him” (1
John 4:15-16).
Love Perceived (by
the saint) ~ ”By this we know love, because He laid down His life
for us. And we also ought to lay
down our lives for the brethren. But whoever
has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart
from him, how does the love of God abide in him?” (1
John 3:16-17).
Love Spills Over (by
the Spirit) ~ “Now hope does not
disappoint, because the love of God has
been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us” (Romans
5:5).
Love Dwelling (in
the heart) ~ “By this we know
love, because He laid down His life for us.
And we also ought to lay down our
lives for the brethren. But whoever
has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart
from him, how does the love of God abide in him?” (1
John 3:16-17).
