~ No Problems ~
People Think
~ Some people believe (including
some new Christians) that once you are a believer God will solve all of your
problems. Others believe that as a
Christian God will never allow problems into your life.
God Answers
~ Jesus
said, “[Even though] you may be sons of your Father in heaven; He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the
good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust” (Matthew
5:45).
“Beloved, do not think it
strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange
thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s
sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with
exceeding joy. If you are reproached for
the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests
upon you. On their part He is
blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified” (1 Peter 4:12-14).
“All who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution”
(2 Timothy 3:12).
The Significance
~ The truth is that Christians,
like non-believers, experience ups and downs including the normal challenges
that life on earth brings.
Comment
~ As 1 Peter 4 (quoted above)
shows a Christian—who is living a Christ-like life will receive additional
troubles on earth. A key difference is
they know the final result and they [should] keep their eye on the final goal. “Beloved, now we
are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we
know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He
is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure”
(1 John 3:2-3).
