Fact Check, 59

~ Not Too Much ~

Bible Quotation?  ~  “God will never give you more than you can handle.”

The Bible Says  ~  While this is close to a Bible quotation, the concept is both true and false depending upon the context and meaning associated with the words.

False  ~   Since the Fall of man life has been difficult and beyond our natural capacity to live as God intended.  The Apostle Paul wrote, “For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life” (2 Corinthians 1:8) …

Our only solution (i.e., salvation) is in Jesus Christ.  … “Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead, who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us, you also helping together in prayer for us, that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the gift granted to us through many” (2 Corinthians 1:9-11).

True  ~  Once we have personally (individually) accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior then He will provide the strength for us to handle all of life’s twists and turns and overcome.  Jesus said, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).

“Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.  No temptation has overtaken you [written to believers] except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it” (1 Corinthians 10:12-13).
