~ Expect Success ~

People Think  ~  “Born to win.”  

The Bible Says  ~  Because of mankind’s sin in the Garden of Eden we are all bent toward failure—“born to lose” would be a more realistic description. 

The Old Testament  ~  “Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me.  Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom” (Psalm 51:5-6).  

The New Testament  ~  “This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.  But you [believers] have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4:17-24).

The Significance  ~  (1) Accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Savior is the only solution to your sin nature.  He paid the price for our sin and speaking of Himself stated it this way:  “Whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” (John 3:15-17).

(2) Accepting Jesus as your personal Savior allows you to enter into the Abundant Life.  Our Savior said this:  “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.  I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).

(3) Accepting Jesus as your personal Savior allows you to have deep inner joy and peace regardless of your present circumstances.  “Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue” (2 Peter 1:2-3).  “The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7).

(4) Accepting Jesus as your personal Savior guarantees you an eternal future of unending joy with God in heaven.  Before returning to His Father Jesus assured us that His followers would spend eternity with Him.  "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.  In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you.  I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:1-3).
