Jesus Christ Was Witnessed by The Father ~
Passages ~ “When
He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the
heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove
and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice
came from heaven, saying, ‘This is My
beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased’” (Matthew 3:16-17).
“While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed
them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, ‘This is My beloved
Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear
Him!’” (Matthew 17:5-6).
“For He received from God the Father honor and glory when
such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.’ And we heard this voice which came from
heaven when we were with Him on the holy
Mountain” (2 Peter 1:17-18).
Significance ~ What
greater witness could there be than God—the Father?
“And the Father
Himself, who sent Me, has testified
of Me” (John 5:37a).
“I am One who bears witness of Myself, and the Father who sent Me bears witness of Me”
(John 8:18).
“If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is the witness of God which
He has testified of His Son” (1 John 5:9).
the key question:
“Who do you say that I am?”
(Matthew 16:15). This is the most
important question you will ever answer. If you do not answer it, or answer it
incorrectly, you have made the biggest mistake anyone can make!
