Is That In The Bible? 12

~ You Can’t Take It With You! ~

Many concepts are in the Bible—even though the exact wording is not.  For example consider the statement: “You can’t take it with you.”  While the exact phrase is not in Scripture the concept certainly is throughout Scripture.

Scriptures  ~  Naked a man comes from his mother's womb, and as he comes, so he departs. He takes nothing from his labor that he can carry in his hand. This too is a grievous evil: As a man comes, so he departs, and what does he gain, since he toils for the wind?” (Ecclesiastes 5:15-16).  For a man may do his work with wisdom, knowledge and skill, and then he must leave all he owns to someone who has not worked for it. This too is meaningless and a great misfortune” (Ecclesiastes 2:21).

Consider Also  ~   For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?” (Luke 9:25).  Jesus said, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:19-21).

Summary  ~  Someone once commented: “There are no U-Hauls in heaven.”
