Jesus Christ Came To Bring Grace ~
Passage ~ “And
the Word [Jesus Christ] became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory,
the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John
bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, ‘This was He of whom I said, “He who
comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.”’ And of His fullness we have all received, and
grace for grace. For the law was given
through Moses, but grace and truth came
through Jesus Christ. No one has
seen God at any time. The only begotten
Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him” (John 1:14-18).
Significance ~ Grace
is often defined as “unmerited favor.” The
basic concept of grace is getting something good which you do not deserve.
Jesus Christ came to earth on a mission
to provide a way for us to satisfy the righteous justice (getting what we do
deserve) of God. He paid the price
for our sins. Because of His death on
our behalf we received mercy (not getting something bad we do deserve)
from God.
Comment ~ Think about this. Do you have a personal knowledge and experience of the grace and mercy of God OR are you advancing towards the justice of God?
the key question:
“Who do you say that I am?”
(Matthew 16:15). This is the most important
question you will ever answer. If you do
not answer it, or answer it incorrectly, you have made the biggest mistake
anyone can make!
