~ Have You Demonstrated Thankfulness? ~
Armistice Day ~ “To
us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be
filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s
service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from
which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to
show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations.” ~ President
Wilson
Veteran’s Day ~ After World War II, Raymond Weeks, a WW2
veteran, came up with the idea of expanding Armistice Day to become a
celebration of all veterans — an annual National Veterans Day. It became law nine years later on May 26, 1954.
Today ~ How are you remembering and celebrating those
who served their county in order to secure and maintain the freedoms you
enjoy? Have you prominently displayed Old
Glory at your home and/or place of business?
Have you specifically thanked the veterans you know?
Scripture
~ “As the Father loved Me, I also
have loved you; abide in My love. If you
keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s
commandments and abide in His love. These
things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy
may be full. This is My commandment,
that you love one another as I have loved you.
Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for
his friends. You are My friends if
you do whatever I command you” (John 15:9-14).
