This Series ~ This series of posts looks at some of the many attributes of God.  Generally, we move in alphabetical order.

 

Introduction ~ The Bible clearly teaches that God is simultaneously everywhere. The theological term is omnipresent.

 

It is important to keep in mind that saying “God is everywhere” compared to saying “God is here.” The former is the generic category in the minds of many Christians.

 

~ Everywhere ~ "But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You” (1 Kings 8:27a).

 

~ Here ~ “You have hedged me behind and before, and laid Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain it. Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?” (Psalm 139:5-7). 

 

Scripture (God is everywhere) ~ “Then the Lord said: ‘I have pardoned, according to your word; but truly, as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord’” (Numbers 14:20-21).

 

“Blessed be His glorious name forever! And let the whole earth be filled with His glory” (Psalm 72:19a).

 

Scripture (God is here) ~ “I will dwell among the people of Israel and be their God. And they shall know that I am the Lord their God, who brought them out of the land of Egypt that I might dwell among them” (Exodus 29:45-46).  

 

“Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?”  (1 Corinthians 3:16).

 

“As God has said: ‘I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people’” (2 Corinthians 6:16b).

 

Comment ~ “In Your presence there is fullness of joy, at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:11).
