~ Objections ~
Introduction ~ True
conversion includes a new attitude toward God, shown forth always by an outward
change in the life.
In
this series of posts, we look at 1) the need for conversion, 2) the process
of conversion, 3) the motive for conversion, 4) objections to
conversion, 5) correct thinking about conversion, 6) how conversion
occurs, and 7) evidence of conversion.
Scripture
~
“So when they did not agree among
themselves, they departed after Paul had said one word: ‘The Holy Spirit spoke
rightly through Isaiah the prophet to our fathers, saying, ‘Go to this people and say: “Hearing you will hear, and shall not understand; and seeing you will see, and not
perceive; for the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their
ears,
lest they should understand with their
hearts and turn, so that I should heal them.”’” (Acts
28:25-27).
“From that time many of His
disciples went back and walked with Him no more. Then Jesus said to the
twelve, ‘Do you also want to go away?’ But Simon Peter answered Him, ‘Lord, to
whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to
believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God’” (John
6:66-69).
Quote ~ “True
conversion means turning not only from sin but also from depending on self-made
righteousness. Those who trust in their own righteousness for conversion hid
behind their own good works. This is the reason that self-righteous people are
so angry with Gospel preachers, because the Gospel does not spare those who
will not submit to the righteousness of Jesus Christ!” —George Whitefield
