Christian Action, 29of39

~ Treat Everyone Equally ~

Series Note  ~  In just the single chapter of Romans 12 the Apostle Paul gave believers a list of 39 things which are part of the Christian life which pleases God.  This chapter is crying out saying, “If you name Jesus Christ as your Savior then please act like a Christian!  It is Paul’s “To Do List” for us.  The key principle is that while you and I cannot change God’s character (who He really is) we have the clear potential to damage His reputation (what others think He is).

Scripture to Meditate On  ~  “Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble” (Romans 12:16c).

Related Passages  ~  “My brethren, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with partiality.  For if there should come into your assembly a man with gold rings, in fine apparel, and there should also come in a poor man in filthy clothes, and you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say to him, ‘You sit here in a good place,’ and say to the poor man, ‘You stand there,’ or, ‘Sit here at my footstool,’ have you not shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?  Listen, my beloved brethren: Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?  But you have dishonored the poor man.  Do not the rich oppress you and drag you into the courts?  Do they not blaspheme that noble name by which you are called?  If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself,’ you do well; but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors.  For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all” (James 2:1-11).

Jesus Was…, 2

~ Jesus Christ Was Witnessed by The Father ~

Passages  ~  “When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.  And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased’” (Matthew 3:16-17).

“While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.  Hear Him!’” (Matthew 17:5-6).

“For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.’  And we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with Him on the holy
Mountain” (2 Peter 1:17-18).

Significance  ~  What greater witness could there be than God—the Father?

“And the Father Himself, who sent Me, has testified of Me” (John 5:37a).

“I am One who bears witness of Myself, and the Father who sent Me bears witness of Me” (John 8:18).

“If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is the witness of God which He has testified of His Son” (1 John 5:9).

the key question:  “Who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15).  This is the most important question you will ever answer.  If you do not answer it, or answer it incorrectly, you have made the biggest mistake anyone can make!

Salvation, 19

~ 3 Great Realities ~

Salvation is not a Reward for the Righteous.
It is an available Gift for those who understand their Guilt!

Sin Has Ruined All  ~  All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).  All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way” (Isaiah 53:6a).
A righteous God does not even see the “good” done by sinners.  He is emphatic in His three time statement:
“The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God.  They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.  The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.  They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one” (Psalm 14:1-3).
“The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God.  Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.  God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.  Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one” (Psalm 53:1-3).
“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: there is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.  They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one” (Romans 3:10-12).

Christ Has Ransomed All  ~  “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle—I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth” (1 Timothy 2:5-7).
The death of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary conditionally paid for all the sins of all mankind.  The free gift of salvation offered to all sinners must be individually accepted by each sinner—otherwise it is an unopened and ineffective gift.

Faith Saves All  ~  “For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and saw corruption; but He [Jesus Christ] whom God raised up saw no corruption.  Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses” (Acts 13:36-40).
As stated previously:  The death of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary conditionally paid for all the sins of all mankind.  The free gift of salvation offered to all sinners must be individually accepted by each sinner (“everyone who believes” in this passage)—otherwise it is an unopened and ineffective gift.
