God Attribute, 19

~ Dwells In Believers ~

This Series  ~  This series of posts looks at some of the many attributes of God.  Generally, we move in alphabetical order.

Introduction  ~  When a person becomes a Christian the Holy Spirit enters into their lives to guide, direct, and teach them the things of God.

Scripture  ~  When Jesus was preparing to ascent back into heaven He said: I will ask the Father, and He will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever — the Spirit of truth.  The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him.  But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you (John 14:16-17).

“Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16).

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8 NIV).

“That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us” (2 Timothy 1:14).

“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” (Romans 8:11)

Warning  ~  “As God has two dwelling places: heaven and a contrite heart, so has the devil – hell and a proud heart.” –Thomas Watson

Why Trust God? 15

~ God Controls Nature (Exodus 2of12) ~

Introduction  ~  “Abundant Life Now” previously provided a list of Biblical of examples of fearing / reverencing God (217 posts).  In this current series we look at Biblical accounts that demonstrate that we can fully trust God.  Initially we posted seven general reasons for trusting God.  We are currently looking at passages from all 66 books of Scripture which demonstrate a reason for trusting our Creator.

Scripture  ~  “Then the Lord spoke to Moses, ‘Say to Aaron, “Stretch out your hand with your rod over the streams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause frogs to come up on the land of Egypt.”’  So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt” (Exodus 8:5-6).

Pause and Reflect

~ Honor Those Who Gave Their All For You ~

Introduction ~ Many countries have set aside a day each year to remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice—dying in war—for the benefit of others.  In the United States it is called Memorial Day, and it happens every year on the last Monday of May.

Memorial Day is to remember those who never made it out of their uniform.  Memorial Day is a day when we pause to give thanks and pay tribute to all who fought and died for the things we often take for granted.

Scripture ~ Jesus said, “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.  This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.  Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.  You are My friends if you do whatever I command you” (John 15:11-15).

Comment ~ The ultimate test of love is sacrifice.  Jesus Christ gave the ultimate sacrifice to save us from the eternal punishment we deserve for our sins.  As Christians today we are called to make daily sacrifices.  Most are small but sometimes they are very large.  May we always remember our role model, Jesus Christ, who showed us the ultimate sacrifice.
