~ 4 Key Traits of
Effective Servants ~
To be
acceptable in God’s eyes a servant must serve with the four following traits.
Serve Wholeheartedly (affections) ~ “And now, Israel,
what does the Lord your God
require of you, but to fear the Lord
your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the Lord your God
with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of
the Lord and His statutes which I
command you today for your good?” (Deuteronomy 10:12-13). “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to
the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31).
Serve Willing (mind) ~ “As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father,
and serve Him with a loyal heart and with
a willing mind; for the Lord
searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts” (1 Chronicles 28:9a). “But none
of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry
which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of
God” (Acts 20:24).
Serve Humbly (attitudes) ~ “From Miletus he
sent to Ephesus and called for the elders of the church. And when they had come to him, he said to
them: ‘You know, from the first day that I came to Asia, in what manner I
always lived among you, serving the Lord
with all humility, with many tears and trials which happened to me by the
plotting of the Jews; how I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed
it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house, testifying to Jews,
and also to Greeks, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus
Christ’” (Acts 20:17-21).
Serve Joyfully (spirit) ~ “Make a joyful
shout to the Lord, all you
lands! Serve the Lord with
gladness; come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord,
He is God; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture” (Psalm 100:1-3).
