Why Christ Came, 3of4
~ Reasons Why Jesus Came—Specific
Tasks ~
Consider
four specific tasks which Jesus Christ came to earth to fulfill.
He
Came To Seek The Lost
~
“And Jesus said to him (Zacchaeus), ‘Today
salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save
that which was lost’” (Luke 19:9-10).
He Came To Call Sinners
To Repentance ~ “When Jesus heard it, He
said to them, ‘Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who
are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance’” (Mark
2:17).
He Came To Give Himself
As A Ransom For Those Who Accept Him ~ Jesus said, “And whoever desires to be first
among you, let him be your slave — just as the
Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a
ransom for many” (Matthew 20:27-28).
He Came To Save Sinners
~ The
Apostle Paul said, “This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance,
that Christ Jesus came into the world to
save sinners, of whom I am chief” (1 Timothy 1:15).
The
bottom line is He came for our benefit.
the key question:
“Who do you say that I am?” (Matthew 16:15). This is the most important
question you will ever answer. If you do not answer it, or answer it
incorrectly, you have made the biggest mistake anyone can make!
