~ Some Characteristics of Redemption
Which Relate To You ~
Obtained For Us (at
the Cross) ~ “Not with the blood of
goats and calves, but with His own blood
He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of bulls and goats and the
ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the
flesh, how much more shall the blood of
Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God,
cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” (Hebrews
9:12-14).
Sent To Us (in
the Gospel) ~ “He has sent redemption to His people; He
has commanded His covenant forever: Holy and awesome is His name” (Psalm
111:9).
Known By Us (in
the present) ~ “But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who
became for us wisdom from God — and righteousness and sanctification and
redemption — that, as it is written, ‘He
who glories, let him glory in the Lord’”
(1 Corinthians 1:30-31).
Accomplished In Us (in
the future) ~ “For the earnest
expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of
God. For the creation was subjected to
futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; because
the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into
the glorious liberty of the children of God.
For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs
together until now. Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the
Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the
adoption, the redemption of our body.
For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for
why does one still hope for what he sees?
But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with
perseverance” (Romans 8:19-25).
