~ Clear Absolute
Statements—Straightforward Words: “Never” ~
The doctrine of “eternal
security” (sometimes described as “once saved—always saved”) is widely accepted
with Christianity. There are however
some who deny this important teaching of Scripture—by pulling verses out of
their context to make them say something other than intended. In this series we look at what the Word of
God has to say about the subject. “Him
who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the
presence of His glory with exceeding joy” (Jude 24).
What is your definition of “never” / “nothing”?
Jesus Christ said, “My
sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never
perish; neither shall anyone snatch
them out of My hand. My Father, who
has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are One” (John 10:27-30).
“I know that whatever God
does, it shall be forever. Nothing
can be added to it, and nothing taken from it. God does it,
that men should fear before Him” (Ecclesiastes 3:14).
“Jesus said to her, ‘I am
the resurrection and the life. He who
believes in Me, though he may die [physically], he shall live [spiritually
forever]. And whoever lives and believes
in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?’” (John 11:25-26).
What is your definition of “never” / “nothing”?
