~ Good Labor and The Christian ~
The Christian Is…
…Created For Good Works
~ “For by grace you have been
saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of
works, lest anyone should boast. For we
are His workmanship, created in Christ
Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in
them” (Ephesians 2:8-10).
…Equipped For Good Works
~ “All Scripture is given by
inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for
correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be
complete, thoroughly equipped for every
good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
…Prepared For Every Good Work ~ “But
in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of
wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the
latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work” (2 Timothy
2:20-21).
…To Be Zealous Towards Good Works
~ “For the grace of God that
brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness
and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the
present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God
and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from
every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with
all authority. Let no one despise you” (Titus
2:11-15).
…To Be Full of Good Works
~ “At Joppa there was a certain
disciple named Tabitha, which is translated Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds which she did. But it happened in those days that she became
sick and died. When they had washed her,
they laid her in an upper room. And
since Lydda was near Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there,
they sent two men to him, imploring him not to delay in coming to them. Then Peter arose and went with them. When he had come, they brought him to the
upper room. And all the widows stood by
him weeping, showing the tunics and
garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them” (Acts 9:36-39).
…To Set The Example Of Good Works ~ “Likewise, exhort the young men to be
sober-minded, in all things showing
yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence,
incorruptibility, sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an
opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you” (Titus 2:6-8).
…To Be Rich In Good Works
~ “Command those who are rich in
this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the
living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing
up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay
hold on eternal life” (1 Timothy 6:17-19).
…To Maintain Good Works
~ “This is a faithful saying, and
these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works.
These things are good and profitable to
men” (Titus 3:8).
