~ Same Destiny ~
Bible Quotation?
~ “Everyone goes to the same
place when they die.”
The Bible Says
~ Everyone will end in one of two
destinies: heaven or hell. Everlasting
joy or eternal torment.
Heaven
~ In speaking to
His followers Jesus said, “‘Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in
Me. In My Father’s house are many
mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for
you. And if I go and prepare a place
for you, I will come again and receive
you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you
know.’ Thomas said to Him, ‘Lord,
we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?’ Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through Me’” (John
14:1-6).
Hell
~ “For the wicked are reserved for the day of doom;
they shall be
brought out on the day of wrath” (Job
21:30).
“For if God did not spare the
angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into
chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight
people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the
ungodly; and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned
them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live
ungodly; and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct
of the wicked (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day
by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)—then the Lord knows how to deliver
the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the
day of judgment, and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the
lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries,
whereas angels, who are greater in power and might, do not bring a reviling
accusation against them before the Lord” (2 Peter 2:4-11).
“These are wells without water, clouds carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the blackness of
darkness forever” (2 Peter 2:17).
“But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same
word, are reserved for fire until the day
of judgment and perdition of ungodly men” (2 Peter 3:7).
“And
the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He
has reserved in everlasting chains under
darkness for the judgment of the great day” (Jude 6).
Jesus
said, “So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to
Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died
and was buried. And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham
afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. Then
he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he
may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your
lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but
now he is comforted and you are
tormented’” (Luke 16:22-26).
The Significance ~ If God is true to His Word then it is worth
your effort to search the Scriptures for yourself. Follow the pattern of the Bereans. “Then the brethren
immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. When they arrived, they went into the
synagogue of the Jews. These were more
fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures
daily to find out whether these things were so” (Acts
17:10-11).
Comment
~ Securing your spot in heaven is
as easy as A-B-C. First, Admit to God that you are a
sinner. Second, Believe on the provision
God has made for you—through the blood of Jesus Christ His only Son. Third, Confess Him as your Savior.
